Local News in Brief : La Habra : Woman, Husband Hurt, Fetus Killed by Car
A woman was critically injured and her 8-month-old fetus was pronounced dead after the woman was struck by a car while attempting to cross East Lambert Road, La Habra police said.
The woman, Araceli Perez Flores, 17, and her husband, Juan, 24, of La Habra, were both struck as they crossed the street in the middle of the block at about 10:15 p.m. Monday, according to Capt. John Rees. Juan Flores was in guarded condition Tuesday at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
The driver of the car, who told police that she had been watching another car that was about to enter the roadway, did not see the couple until she hit them, Rees said. The driver was not cited, and the accident is still under investigation, Rees said.
