Titan Women Open Volleyball Season With Two Wins in Washington, D.C.

Freshman hitter Cyndi Rhone had a school-record nine aces to lead the Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball team past Syracuse, 15-4, 15-13, 15-7, Thursday in the Georgetown University Early Bird tournament at McDonough Arena in Washington, D.C.

In an earlier match, the Titans opened their season by defeating Virginia Commonwealth, 15-5, 15-2, 15-2.

Susan Herman, a junior outside hitter, led the Titans with 31 kills in the two matches. Rhone, playing her first collegiate matches, had 21.

Fullerton plays Georgetown today at 8 a.m. PDT.
