A midday brush fire in Rancho San Diego damaged a satellite television reception dish and a shed and threatened several homes Tuesday before 80 firefighters and 20 engines contained the blaze, fire officials said.

The fire broke out about noon south of Fury Lane near Via Escuda and consumed 15 to 20 acres by late afternoon, said a San Miguel Consolidated Fire Prevention District spokesman.

Homes were threatened, but not damaged, on Via Escuda and Via Picante, he said. There were no reported injuries.

Neighboring fire stations and the California Department of Forestry aided the firefighting effort, the spokesman said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
