Local News in Brief : 3 More Swimming Pools to Stay Open
The Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks has added three sites to its list of swimming pools which will remain open through Tuesday and announced that swimming will be free at all 30 locations.
Three pools in San Fernando Valley--Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks, Fernangeles and Woodland Hills--were added to the list. In addition, General Manager James E. Hadaway said Wednesday that the department will bus youngsters from the Van Ness pool, which remains closed, to the Los Angeles Swim Stadium.
The City Council allocated $100,000 on Tuesday to open the pools an additional week because of last weekend’s heat wave.
