A request by fullback Calvin Thomas of the Chicago Bears for an emergency hearing to challenge his 30-day drug suspension by the National Football League was denied in Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago.
The request argued that the NFL never notified the seventh-year pro in writing of his failure to pass an earlier drug test.
Thomas and Bear defensive end Richard Dent received 30-day suspensions Wednesday after Thomas reportedly failed the test and Dent refused to take it. The NFL lifted Dent’s suspension Friday after Dent threatened to sue.
