Share

Southbound traffic on the Golden State Freeway was jammed for 3 1/2 hours Monday morning when a northbound truck swerved to avoid a slow car and crashed across the center divider, blocking two lanes.

There were no injuries in the 9:30 a.m. accident, which occurred a quarter-mile north of Magic Mountain Parkway.

A car driven by Francisco Vasquez, 26, of Santa Paula was heading north when it was struck from the rear by another car, said Officer Ralph Elvira of the California Highway Patrol. The impact caused the hood of Vasquez’s car to fly open, blocking his view, Elvira said.

As Vasquez slowed to pull off the road, a truck driven by Bradley Dahl, 32, of Medford, Wis., swerved to avoid the car and crashed across the center divider, coming to rest in two lanes on the southbound side of the freeway.

Officer Ed Zubyk said that no one involved was cited Monday, but the accident was under investigation.
