Quarterback Steve Walsh of the University of Miami said he may forgo his senior season to turn professional, but first he wants to win the Heisman Trophy and lead the top-ranked Hurricanes to their second consecutive national championship.
Walsh, a junior who is 14-0 as a starter, said he may follow Hurricanes such as Bernie Kosar and Michael Irvin in skipping his senior season. He was redshirted his first year and is scheduled to get a degree in finance nextsummer.
“It’s something I’ll discuss with Coach (Jimmy) Johnson and with my family,” Walsh said. “I don’t know if I’m ready to make a huge step like that, but it’s something that definitely will be talked about at the end of the season.”
