A still-mending Dean Biasucci wasn’t perfect, but he was good enough.

The Indianapolis kicker, hobbled the past 2 weeks by a groin pull, connected on 5 field goals Sunday to give the Colts their first win, a 15-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

“It was an outstanding team victory, obviously a needed victory,” Indianapolis Coach Ron Meyer said.

The keys were defense, Eric Dickerson and Biasucci.

Dickerson, who went into the game leading the league in rushing, had 125 yards in 30 carries to move past Jim Taylor into the No. 8 position on the NFL career-rushing list. Dickerson has 8,701 yards after rushing for 100 or more yards in a game for the 47th time.

The Colts (1-3) recently signed Kerry Brady for kickoffs but used Biasucci, a Pro Bowl player last season, for field goals. Biasucci’s only miss came from 51 yards.

The Dolphins (1-3) were stopped repeatedly by a defense that sacked Dan Marino 4 times and twice held the Dolphins on downs, including once at the 1-yard line in the final quarter.

Meyer didn’t try second-guessing Miami Coach Don Shula’s decision to go for first downs instead of field goals on the two fourth-down plays.

Marino’s 39-yard touchdown pass to Lorenzo Hampton in the first quarter was the only scoring the Dolphins managed until the closing seconds of the game.

The Colts, meanwhile, got a field goal by Biasucci on the next series, then took the lead with three more field goals in the second quarter.

The Dolphins threatened twice in the second half, but lost the ball both times on downs despite eight straight completions by Marino.

After stopping Miami at the 1 with 10:43 to go, the Colts drove 91 yards and put the game out of reach with Biasucci’s fifth field goal, a 25-yarder, with 1:57 remaining.

That gave Indianapolis a 15-7 lead before Miami scored on Marino’s 8-yard scoring pass to Troy Stradford with 19 seconds left.
