Share

The Sheriff’s Department is warning residents to secure doors and windows in the wake of a rash of residential robberies in the Villa Park and Lemon Heights neighborhoods.

Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Richard J. Olson said four armed robberies have occurred over a four-week period, and at least two of them appear to be the work of the same bandits.

In three of the cases, couples were watching television when the break-ins occurred. Another couple were in bed at the time.

Olson said that in two of the robberies, victims were attacked with stun guns, which emit an electrical charge that can disable a person. No one was seriously injured, Olson said.

The robberies occurred on Sept. 2 in the 11000 block of Skyline Boulevard in Lemon Heights; on Sept. 15 in the 9000 block of Villa Isle Drive in Villa Park; on Sept 21 in the 9000 block of Hunting Circle in Villa Park, and on Sept. 23 in the 1800 block of Park Skyline Road in Lemon Heights.

Officials are searching for a dented, yellow 1980 Toyota hatchback with blue license plates that may be associated with one or more of the robberies.
