A 19-year-old clerk in a produce market was held at County Jail on suspicion of murder after shooting a customer, San Diego police said Friday.

Muhammed Hamawi, a clerk at Zena Fresh Produce Market, near 38th and National Avenue, was questioned and jailed after he shot Carl Dennis Rojas, 26, an unemployed San Diego man, police said.

About an hour after Hamawi was jailed, a fire reportedly caused by arson broke out at the market. The building was gutted, fire officials said.
