A 4-year-old boy, playing marbles with his friends, and two adults were injured by gunfire Saturday in one of a series of weekend gang incidents that sent more than a dozen victims to hospitals.

Officers said an unidentified 17-year-old is being sought in connection with the wounding of Ruben Rodriquez, 4, who was hit by “reckless shooting” while playing on the sidewalk at 1st and Utah streets. Enrique Estrada, 31, received eye and arm injuries and Tony Olmeda, 25, was hit with a bottle during the same incident, said Sgt. George Spitzer.

In a separate incident at St. Andrews Place and Sunset Boulevard late Friday, six people were shot, one seriously, by three suspected gang members who were arrested on charges they fired into a group of pedestrians. Names of the victims were not released. Five of the six were treated at a hospital. The sixth, a woman, was hospitalized in serious condition.

Three suspects in custody were two 16-year-old boys whose identities were not made public because of their age and 20-year-old Edward Gonzalez of Los Angeles.

The third attack occurred near the Coliseum early Saturday when members of rival gangs apparently became involved in a car chase that ended when one car rammed the rear of another, sending it into a tree. Four people from the rammed car were hospitalized.
