SDSU Sweeps Past Loyola in Volleyball

Dianna Alleman had 10 kills and 3 other players had 8 as San Diego State defeated Loyola Marymount, 15-10, 15-5, 16-14, Tuesday night in a nonconference women’s volleyball match at Loyola Marymount.

San Diego State (16-3) has won eight consecutive matches and is ranked 11th in both the NCAA and Tachikara polls.

SDSU hosts UC Irvine in a Big West Conference match at 8 tonight at Peterson Gym.

SOCCER

Mike Friesen scored with 4 minutes left in the second overtime to lift Point Loma Nazarene College men’s team to a 2-1 Golden State Athletic Conference victory over Azusa Pacific.

Friesen scored 20 minutes into the second period to tie the score 1-1. PLNC is 7-4-1 and 1-2. Azusa-Pacific is 2-10-3 and 0-4.

Nicky Roache kicked the winning goal for the Gulls as the U.S. International University women’s team defeated visiting Cal State San Bernardino, 2-0, in a nonleague game.

Laurie Christiansen scored 4 minutes into the first half, with Roache on the assist. USIU is 4-6.

The U.S. International men’s team hosts the San Diego Sockers at 3 p.m. Thursday in an exhibition game. The Gulls are 4-5 with a win against No. 17 Stanford.

GOLF

The U.S. International women’s team is in second place, 13 strokes behind leader Arizona entering today’s final round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the University of Washington.

USIU’s Tupito Walker and Linda Olivier are tied for sixth place at 153 in the individual tournament. Walker and Olivier trail leader Stephanie Parel of Stanford by 4 strokes.
