Keef Leasure rushed for 155 yards and scored 2 touchdowns to lead host Valencia High School to a 41-7 victory over Brea-Olinda Friday in the Orange League opener for both teams in front of a homecoming crowd of 1,300.

Operating out of a backfield that often lined up in a T formation, Leasure gained 115 yards by halftime and helped Valencia (5-0-1) to a 28-0 halftime lead.

“We had good blocking and the (early) inside runs definitely set up the outside,” Leasure said. “I was able to bounce outside because of (the runs up the middle).”

Once he bounced outside, he rolled.

Leasure had gained 141 yards in Valencia’s 21-0 victory over Cypress last week.

Most of the gains Friday night came on off-tackle plays where Leasure was able to shed a linebacker’s tackle and go one-on-one with smaller defensive backs.

“I try to run over people,” Leasure said. “I love to run over people.”

For Brea Olinda (1-5) it was a bad night for nearly everyone involved.

Brea-Olinda quarterback Chad Marlow threw an interception that was returned by Kevin Thomas to the 7-yard line. Leasure ran it in from there on the next play. Things didn’t improve much for Marlow, who completed 6 of 20 passes for 70 yards.
