The editorial chides Bush for “a tinge of noblesse oblige “ in his Youth Engaged in Service program. With the Britannica dictionary informing me that noblesse oblige refers to “the obligation of honorable, generous, and responsible behavior that is a concomitant of high rank or birth,” it’s clear that your criticism could never be directed at Michael Dukakis.
