Los Angeles police arrested a Claremont rape suspect as he appeared in Pomona Superior Court during a routine court appearance this week and charged him with two dozen other felony counts involving rape and kidnapings that he allegedly committed in South-Central Los Angeles while free on bail.

The suspect, Timothy Young, 24, was arraigned Friday afternoon on the new charges, involving six South-Central high school girls ages 14 to 17 years.

In October, 1987, Young was charged with 10 counts of assorted sex crimes as well as attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and robbery involving four victims in Pomona and Claremont. But he was released a month later after posting $25,000 bail.
