Wyoming simply didn’t let the the nation’s top offense get going.

Before Utah quarterback Scott Mitchell could complete his first pass of the game, the 12th-ranked Cowboys scored 2 touchdowns and then coasted to 61-18 Western Athletic Conference victory at Laramie, Wyo.

Wyoming (8-0, 5-0) has won 17 straight regular-season games.

“They key today was we were able to jump on them early,” Wyoming Coach Paul Roach said. “It’s nice to take control that soon.”

“We didn’t get many sacks, but I think we accomplished what we wanted. (Mitchell) was under pressure and had to throw on the run many times. That throws the timing off.”
