Ace left-hander Kimiyasu Kudo pitched a four-hitter and the Seibu Lions made their three hits count Tuesday in a 4-3 victory over the Chunichi Dragons that gave the Lions a 2-1 lead in the Japan World Series.

Hiromichi Ishige’s second homer of the series leading off the fifth inning and a pair of sixth-inning singles was all the offense Seibu could muster against Masahiro Yamamoto. But combined with the Chunichi starter’s wildness in the sixth, it proved to be enough for the Pacific Division champions.

Before a crowd of 32,000 at Seibu Stadium, the Dragons took a quick 1-0 lead as Toshikatsu Hikone led off the game with a home run.
