Boobie Clark, who led the Cincinnati Bengals in rushing in 1975 and ‘76, died in Jacksonville, Fla., of an apparent blood clot in his lung.

Clark, 37, helped establish the Bengals’ tradition of bulky fullbacks. He gained 2,978 yards from 1973-78, the third-highest total in club history. Clark gave way to Pete Johnson, who took over as the club rushing leader in 1977 and led the club for 7 consecutive seasons.
