UCI’s Weischsel Beats No. 1 Seed, Then Loses
Courtney Weischsel of UC Irvine upset top-seeded Lupita Novelo of USC, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, in the first round of the Women’s All-American Tennis Championships Tuesday at the Riveria Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades.
But Weischsel was eliminated from the tournament in the second round, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, by Danielle Klurman of the University of Utah.
In doubles, Weischsel and Kathy Rose lost to Michelle Mras and Suzie Costa of Utah, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.
