Irvine Is Stocked for Trout
Trout season may have ended in the Eastern Sierra but it has just begun at Orange County’s Irvine Lake, where more than a thousand pounds of rainbow trout--some weighing 16 pounds--were stocked last week.
Although the lake’s water is still a bit warm and the trout a bit sluggish, anglers fishing the lake’s deeper--and colder--areas are beginning to catch fair numbers of the “super trout.” David Gassel of Mission Viejo reeled in a 10-pounder and Kevin Saum of Long Beach caught one that weighed 7 1/2 pounds.
