A civilian plane owned by the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station’s recreational flying club crashed in a remote area of eastern Orange County, injuring the pilot and a flight instructor. Authorities did not immediately release their names. Another member of the Aero Club, Constance Blinten, said both men were civilian members. A Marine spokeswoman said the pilot of the single-engine Piper OA-28 Arrow suffered critical injuries. The instructor suffered moderate trauma. Both men were taken by military helicopter from the crash site, east of Anaheim near a rock quarry, to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
