City Section Football : EAST VALLEY LEAGUE

Sylmar 39, Grant 13--Chris Pikes scored 3 touchdowns and Oscar Romo kicked 3 field goals, including a school-record 51-yarder to keep the Spartans (5-3, 4-2) in the hunt for the league championship.

Running back Jerome Casey rushed for 117 yards and 1 touchdown in 20 carries and completed 2 of 2 passes for 44 yards and 2 touchdowns, both to Pikes.

Grant (2-6, 1-5) scored its touchdowns on Shawn Booker’s 2-yard first-quarter run and on Edwin Manning’s 91-yard kickoff return opening the second half.
