Local News in Brief : Tarzana Driver Held in Reseda Man’s Shooting

Share

A dispute between the drivers of two cars on Reseda Boulevard ended when one of the men shot the other, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.

Salim Karim, 20, of Reseda was in stable condition after being shot in the hip at 11:30 p.m. Monday near Victory Boulevard, Detective Pat Conmay said. Shortly after the shooting, Alfred Villalobos, 22, of Tarzana surrendered to police and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, he said.

“One guy was upset with the other guy’s driving, and that led to the dispute and shooting,” Conmay said.

Police said one driver apparently cut in front of the other but would not elaborate on which driver did what. The two then stopped their cars and got out to argue, police said. Villalobos pulled a handgun from his car and fired once at Karim, police said.

After the shooting, Karim was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Villalobos fled, but a few minutes later called police and agreed to turn himself in at the West Valley police station. He is being held without bail at the station’s jail.
