Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Mock Trial Competition to Involve 1,000 Students
More than 1,000 high school students are scheduled to take part in the eighth annual Orange County Mock Trial Competition at the Orange County Courthouse Tuesday through Dec. 8.
The mock program is sponsored by the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Orange County, a nonprofit educational foundation. The program “is designed to enhance understanding of the process and content of the law and to increase basic communication skills,” foundation officials said.
Orange County has the largest mock trial program in the state and the second largest in the nation, according to officials of the Constitutional Rights Foundation. Forty Orange County Superior and Municipal Court judges are scheduled to preside over this year’s series of mock trials.
