Local News in Brief : Mission Viejo : Accident Again Snarls San Diego Freeway
For the second consecutive day, a five-vehicle accident halted early-morning traffic on the San Diego Freeway.
A car spun out of control near La Paz Road at 6:50 a.m. Friday, causing a chain reaction in which a tractor-trailer rig and three other vehicles collided. The accident stopped southbound traffic for 1 1/2 hours. Four people were treated for minor injuries and released from Mission Community Hospital.
Early Thursday morning, two tractor-trailer rigs, a truck and two pickup trucks collided on the San Diego Freeway in Costa Mesa, halting traffic in both directions. One of the rigs dumped 40,000 pounds of sod and spilled diesel fuel onto the highway. The collision injured three people and caused seven other minor accidents.
The five-vehicle pileup was one of eight accidents Friday on Orange County freeways.
