Southern Section Playoffs : Harvard Advances to 2-A Water Polo Quarterfinals

Damon Willick and Jed Simon each scored 3 goals as Harvard High erupted for 6 goals in the third quarter to defeat Bell Gardens, 11-5, Saturday in the second round of the Southern Section 2-A Division water polo playoffs at Santa Fe Municipal Pool.
Harvard extended a 4-3 halftime lead by scoring 6 unanswered goals in the third period after switching defenses. “When we started mixing our defense up in the third period, it really seemed to confuse them,” Harvard Coach Rich Corso said.
Justin Sheen and Eric Deutsch each added 2 goals for Harvard, ranked No. 1 in the 2-A Division.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Westlake 12, Hart 6--Alyse Bartestone won 3 singles matches and Jennifer Reese and Lauren Mazur won 2 of 3 to lead the Marmonte League champion in a 3-A Division second-round match at Westlake Village Racquet Center.
Calabasas 11, Glendale 7--Natasha Pospich and Allison Paris each won 3 singles matches and the doubles team of Allison Bloom and Samantha Mayo won 3 matches to lead Calabasas in a 3-A Division second-round match.
