More than 150 Riverside-area law enforcement officers raided 16 locations Tuesday, arresting 34 people on suspicion of buying or selling small amounts of drugs, Riverside Police Chief Sonny Richardson said.

The majority of those arrested in the effort to dismantle organized drug trafficking operations in the city “were not large drug dealers,” Richardson said. He added, however, that many were believed to be affiliated with Los Angeles-based gangs and were dealing rock cocaine “probably coming up from Mexico through San Diego.”
