A Panorama City man thrown from his car after it hit a concrete barrier on the Hollywood Freeway early Friday was killed when the vehicle crushed him, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The identity of the 34-year-old victim was not released pending notification of his family. The man was killed at 1:10 a.m. when he lost control of his car as it sped along a transition curve from the Harbor Freeway to the northbound Hollywood Freeway, the CHP said.

Officer Diane Lowery said the car was going 60 m.p.h., twice the speed limit on the transition curve. She said the car went out of control and struck the barrier, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt.
