There were enough electrifying long runs to go around Friday night at Fullerton High School.

And--as you might expect--Derek Brown of Servite High School had most of them.

Brown ran for 274 yards and 4 touchdowns in 24 carries to lead Servite to a 35-17 victory over Eisenhower of Rialto in a first-round game of the Southern Section Division I playoffs.

Servite (9-2), the top-seeded team from the Angelus League, will face Crespi (6-5, Del Rey League No. 2) in the second round next Friday at a site to be determined.

Brown ran up his 274 yards against an Eisenhower defense that had allowed an average of 12 points per game this year. Brown’s log for the night looked like this:

--In the second quarter, he took a pitch around the right side and accelerated 34 yards past Eisenhower’s Billy Elliott into the corner of the end zone.

--In the third quarter, on the first play after Dennis Collier’s 21-yard run put the Eagles in front, 17-14, Brown outran Desmond Thompkins 74 yards down the left sideline for a 21-17 Servite lead.
