Tacoma Beats Lazers in 2 Overtimes, 5-4

Andy Schmetzer’s goal at 9:58 of the second overtime period gave the Tacoma Stars their first Major Indoor Soccer League victory of the season, a 5-4 win over the Lazers Wednesday night.

Peter Ward gave Tacoma a 1-0 lead 1:13 into the game.

Gary Heale tied the score at 3:04, and Hector Marinaro, MISL goal leader last season with 58 for the defunct Minnesota Strikers, gave the Lazers a 2-1 lead at 8:12 of the opening period.

The Lazers got second-quarter goals from Michael Collins and Hirmez to make it 4-1.

Tacoma tied the score on second-half goals by Preki, Bernie James and Ali Kazemaini.
