Pedestrian Killed After Hitting Trolley
An unidentified 42-year-old man died Saturday afternoon after running into a downtown trolley.
Shortly before 2 p.m., as the trolley was westbound on C Street past its 12th Avenue stop, a man starting running toward it, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
“He was on C Street and started running southbound toward the trolley,” Robinson said. “He jumped over a 3-foot steel fence and collided with it.”
He was in critical condition at the scene and was taken by paramedics to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he died a short time later, Robinson said.
The incident is under investigation.
