Running back Paul Palmer returned to the Kansas City Chiefs 3 days after being indefinitely suspensed for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
Team officials and Palmer declined to discuss details of the incident, but teammates said Palmer made comments to assistant coach C. W. Hewgley that he might intentionally fumble to force the Chiefs to trade him. He reportedly had been miffed at being fined for being late to practice and for running on the second team, behind Herman Heard.
