West Hollywood : Anniversary Celebration

Share

West Hollywood residents and officials will celebrate the fourth anniversary of the city’s incorporation tonight in Plummer Park’s Fiesta Hall.

The free festivities are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and will include ragtime music, dancing and a cake-design contest among several local bakeries and restaurants, including Exotic Cakes, Cultured Class Gourmet Frozen Yogurt and Cake and Art.

Mayor Helen Albert, who has served on the City Council since its formation, said the gala event has been held annually to thank residents for their support.

“People in this city worked very hard to make cityhood a reality and they have worked hard since then to make sure the city works,” she said.

West Hollywood’s incorporation, on Nov. 29, 1984, resulted largely from the efforts of rent-control advocates and gay and lesbian residents.
