Lazers to Play Sidekicks at Dallas

Share

After breaking a 3-game losing streak Monday night, the Lazers will try to build momentum tonight when they play the Dallas Sidekicks at Dallas.

Before Monday night’s 8-6 victory over the Wichita Wings, the Lazers (6-9), had lost 8 of their last 10 Major Indoor Soccer League games. They are 0-2 against Dallas this season, losing at Reunion Arena and the Forum.

Michael Collins scored his first-ever hat trick during Monday night’s victory and leads the Lazers in scoring with 19 points.

Defensively, the Lazers have the league’s second-leading goalkeeper in Jim Gorsek, who has a 3.38 goals-against average. Gorsek led the league until Monday night’s win, and still might have been No. 1 if his teammates hadn’t accidentally knocked in 4 of the Wings’ 6 goals.

His backup, A.J. Lachowecki, has left the team to play with the U.S. national indoor team in the Netherlands, and indications are that rookie Kris Peat will become the Lazer backup.

Dallas, which has not played since Dec. 17, is 8-5 and in second place, 2 games behind the Baltimore Blast. Tonight’s game is scheduled to start at 5:30 PST.
