A plan to introduce golf to juniors, particularly the underprivileged in the Los Angeles area, was announced jointly by the Ladies PGA and the Amateur Athletic Foundation. The junior golf program will be funded by a $155,000 grant provided by the AAF.
Classes will start March 4 at the Jesse Owens course in South-Central Los Angeles and April 19 at Griffith Park.
Two other sites will be announced later for the pilot program, which Commissioner William A. Blue of the LPGA said his organization hopes to launch in other cities.
