Capistrano Valley Streaks to Victory With 28-0 Run
Trailing by 3 points late in the second quarter, Capistrano Valley High School scored 28 consecutive points and went on to an 84-50 victory over San Clemente Friday in the South Coast League boys’ basketball opener for both teams at UC Irvine’s Bren Center.
San Clemente (3-9, 0-1) led, 29-26, with 2:59 remaining in the half. Capistrano Valley scored 18 consecutive points to take a 44-29 halftime lead. Guard Bill Mazurie scoring 18 of his game-high 26 points in the quarter.
Capistrano Valley (11-4, 1-0) opened the third quarter with a 10-0 run for a 54-29 lead.
Jason Dunahee led San Clemente with 11 points.
