SportScope : Junior Kings Win Again in Ice Hockey
The Junior Kings, a Pee Wee level (12-13 years) ice hockey team from Southern California, went undefeated and won an international tournament in Bemidji, Minn. Leon Rodriguez, Richard Park and Jamie Hanford from Rancho Palos Verdes helped the Kings sweep to a 4-0 record. The team is sponsored by the National Hockey League Los Angeles Kings. The Junior Kings have won three major youth tournaments this season. In February the team will compete in an international event in Quebec.
Cathy Hanlon Marino, a player on the Ladies Professional Golf Assn. tour, was inducted into the Palos Verdes Golf Club Hall of Fame. She joins previous inductees Bud Oakley, John Richarson and Mark Pfeil. Marino has averaged $70,000 a year in winnings on the circuit and holds the women’s course record (71) at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
