CS Northridge Women Edge Cal State L. A.

Vicki Mallett scored 20 points and Chris Cavalin added 16 points and 13 rebounds as the Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team beat Cal State Angeles, 66-62, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. opener at the CSLA gym.
Northridge shot only 40% from the field but forced 25 turnovers. Mallett made 8 of 11 field-goal tries and had 7 assists.
It was the fourth win in a row for the Lady Matadors, who improved to 13-3. Cal State L.A., which had a 3-game winning streak snapped, dropped to 9-8.
