A North Hollywood man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after his car struck and killed a jaywalking pedestrian, police said Sunday.

Frank Frederick Haun, 22, was driving on Lankershim Boulevard near Tujunga Avenue in North Hollywood shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday when his car hit a 33-year-old Van Nuys man who was crossing in the middle of the block, Los Angeles police said.

Haun got out of the car to check on the pedestrian, but his passenger, Kenneth Robinson of Sylmar, took control of the wheel and drove away, police said. Robinson was followed and stopped by an off-duty police officer, authorities said.
