Women’s Basketball Roundup : Coleman, Toler Lead Long Beach to 116-77 Win Over Fresno State
Forward Shamell Coleman scored 29 points and guard Penny Toler had 26 points to lead the Cal State Long Beach women’s basketball team to a 116-77 victory over Fresno State in a Big West Conference game Saturday night at Cal State Long Beach.
The 49ers (16-4 overall, 10-0 in conference) outrebounded Fresno State, 50-32, with Angelique Lee and Cheryl Dowell leading the way with 8 each.
The 49ers played without star guard Traci Waites, who was out with an injured left ankle.
Oregon 75, UCLA 65--Center Stefanie Kasperski scored 28 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked 5 shots to lead Oregon to victory at Eugene, Ore.
After trailing, 42-41, at halftime, the Bruins shot only 17% from the floor as they suffered their third consecutive defeat.
DeDe Mosman led UCLA with 14 points off of the bench. Sandra Van Embricqs had 12 points with 15 rebounds.
The Bruins are 9-10 overall and 5-4 in the Pacific 10. The Ducks are 14-6 overall and 6-3 inconference.
USC 65, Oregon State 56--Forward Cherie Nelson scored 29 points to lead the Trojans to victory at Corvallis, Ore.
The Trojans ended a three-game losing streak to improve to 7-12 overall and 3-6 in conference.
