“Rain Man,” already favored to win several Academy Awards next month, won the top Golden Bear award at the West Berlin Film Festival on Tuesday. The annual 12-day festival draws films and their makers from around the world and is considered one of the industry’s main showcases along with Cannes and Venice. The prize for best actor went to Gene Hackman for his role in the controversial “Mississippi Burning,” and Isabelle Adjani took the best actress award for her part in the French film, “Camille Claudel,” about the sculptress of the same name. Eric Bogosian as script writer and actor in “Talk Radio” took the award for outstanding single achievement.
