A 59-year-old woman was killed today when her car was crushed by a lumber-carrying trailer truck that tipped over, Los Angeles police said. The 7:39 a.m. accident at Devonshire Street and Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Chatsworth closed the intersection for more than two hours. Police identified the victim as Ella Gormley of Sepulveda.

Gormley’s car was stopped in a westbound lane on Devonshire waiting to turn south, officials said. When a tractor truck pulling two trailers of lumber north on Topanga Canyon Boulevard turned east on Devonshire the cab and the first trailer tipped over. The trailer landed directly on top of Gormley’s car, killing her. The truck driver, Angelo Bazza, 25, of Petaluma, was not charged pending investigation on whether the trailer was overloaded.
