Former NFL running back Warren McVea has been charged with setting his girlfriend's apartment afire.
Police arrested McVea Monday without incident, and he was being held in lieu of $10,000 bond.
McVea played professionally with the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals. He earned a Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs in 1970.
Police said McVea, 42, was alone in Sharon Harmon's apartment in southwest Houston on Feb. 8 when a flammable liquid was used to start a fire.
The fire damaged the bedroom and bathroom of the apartment, arson investigator D. W. Haynes said.
