College Roundup : SCC Women Salvage Split in Softball
Sarah Beattie threw a four-hitter as Southern California College split a nonconference softball doubleheader against La Verne Wednesday at La Verne.
The Vanguards (4-6), aided by seven La Verne errors, won the second game, 5-1. La Verne won the opener, 5-2.
Beattie also had three hits in the two games. Center fielder Linda Bilyeu had three hits in the first game and two in the second for SCC.
La Verne is 1-1 on the season.
In nonconference volleyball:
UC Irvine 3, UC San Diego 0--James Felton had 11 kills as Irvine (4-15) swept, 18-16, 15-11, 15-11, at home.
