College Roundup : Pacific Christian Falls to Kentucky Christian in Title Game, 78-70

Kentucky Christian College defeated Pacific Christian, 78-70, to win the National Christian College Athletic Assn. Division II men’s basketball championship Saturday at Jimmy Swaggart Bible College in Baton Rouge, La.
PCC led, 42-34, at halftime, and maintained the lead until Kentucky tied the score at 65 with 5 minutes left. After Kentucky went up 66-65, PCC committed three turnovers and Kentucky Christian led, 72-65. Brian Keiser led PCC (32-10) with 18 points.
In Big West Conference women’s basketball:
Las Vegas 73, UC Irvine 46--Pauline Jordan scored 22 points for visiting Las Vegas (23-5, 12-5). Natasha Parks scored 17 for Irvine (8-19, 4-14).
In the National Christian College Division II women’s basketball championship:
Pacific Christian 66, Baptist Bible 61--Donna Allen and Kris Dodson scored 14 points each as PCC (20-12) won the third-place game.
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s tennis:
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 6, Chapman 3--Laurent Dropsy won 6-2, 7-6, and Pete Bohan won, 6-3, 7-5, in singles for visiting Chapman.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
UC Irvine 7, Utah 2--Host UC Irvine won five singles and two doubles matches. Trevor Kronemann won, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles for Irvine. Mark Kaplan won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2, and Mike Cadigan won at No. 3 singles, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
In nonconference men’s track and field:
Texas Tech 84, UC Irvine 73 1/2, Arizona State 44 1/2--Mike Morales won the hammer throw (197-7), discus (167-10) and the shot put (51-9 1/4) in the meet at Arizona State. Marc Goulet won the 800 meters (1:55.19) and the 1,500 meters (3:59.39) for Irvine.
In nonconference women’s track and field:
UC Irvine 69, Texas Tech 60, Arizona State 46--Trindl Fearnley won the 100 meters (12.86) and the javelin (141-9) for UC Irvine at Arizona State. Beth McGrann won the 5,000 meters (16:55.74) and Brigid Stirling won the 1,500 meters (4:34.87).
