High School Roundup : Mission Bay’s Darrock Hits Three Homers
Sean Darrock hit three home runs as Mission Bay defeated host Granite Hills, 10-6, in a Hilltop-Moose Tournament game Thursday.
Darrock, three for four on the day, had a bases-empty homer in the second, a three-run blast in the third and a two-run shot in the seventh. He finished with seven runs batted in.
J.T. Thomas (1-0) won for Mission Bay (2-0). Granite Hills is 1-1.

St. Augustine 10, San Marcos 2--Eric Dent doubled twice and scored three runs, Juan Lopez was two for three with two RBIs, and Mike Mossuto was one for three with two RBIs for visiting St. Augustine (2-0). Dent (1-0) also came on in relief to earn the win. San Marcos is 0-2.
USDHS 2, Poway 1--In the sixth, University’s Jeff Desjardins singled, advanced to third on an error and scored on a pickoff attempt. Tony Moeder scored University’s second run on Tom Tate’s double. Poway’s Alon Banks opened the inning with a double and scored off a single by Bobby Cummings. Gavin Millay was the winner (1-0). University is now 2-0, Poway 1-1.
San Diego 11, Lincoln 10--Edward Arreola (1-0) won for San Diego (1-0-1) in a game that was called after six innings. San Diego committed nine errors. Lincoln is 1-1.
Marian 8, La Jolla Country Day 7--Jeff Hays scored three runs, and Bobby Applegate (1-0) was the winning pitcher for visiting Marian (1-2).
Crawford 5, Serra 4--Dan Murphy (one RBI), John Edge (two RBIs), Manny Gagliano (one RBI), Josh Neil (one RBI) and Chris Townsend were all two for three for Crawford (2-0). Townsend (1-0) also earned the victory. Serra (1-2) scored three runs in the sixth on two hits.
Morse 14, Clairemont 8--Jimmy Rose hit a home run for Morse (1-1). Russ Schuchart was two for four with three RBIs, and teammate Gill Benitez was three for four with two doubles and four RBIs. The game was called after six innings because of darkness. Clairmont is 1-1.
La Jolla 7, University City 2--John Romanowsky recorded a double and an RBI for La Jolla (1-1). Teammate Gary Frank was one for two with two RBIs and Robert Grasso was two for four. Brett Punches and Jeff Severe each hit a triple for University City (0-2). Luke Williams (1-0), who pitched five innings, was the winner.
Coronado 7, El Cajon Valley 3--Jack Kaewpalug (0-1) took the loss for El Cajon Valley.

Orange Glen 2, Carlsbad 0--Freshman pitcher Lara Campbell struck out 12 and didn’t allow a hit until the seventh inning for Orange Glen (2-0).
Rancho Buena Vista 3, San Dieguito 0--Lisa Porter hit a double for Rancho Buena Vista (2-0). Rachel Boyer, who pitched five innings, was the winner (1-0). San Dieguito is now 0-2.
Morse 8, Montgomery 5--Martha Trimble hit a grand slam in the fourth inning for Montgomery (0-1).
