In another men’s volleyball match:

Pierce d. Palomar, 15-13, 15-8, 15-7--Rico Guimares had 14 kills to lead the Brahmas (9-1) to their sixth consecutive win in a WSC match at Pierce.

BASEBALL

Cal State Northridge 8, UC Riverside 5--Ted Weisfuss had three hits, including a solo home run in the sixth, and Vale Lopez struck out 12 for the Matadors in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. game at CSUN.

Rusty McLain was two for four for CSUN (13-6-1, 5-5-1).

SOFTBALL

Cal State Northridge 10, UC Riverside 0--Debbie Dickmann and Christy Alves combined for a five-inning perfect game in pool play of the Cal State Bakersfield tournament at Greenacres Park.

Lisa Erickson was three for three and scored three runs for Northridge (16-8).

College of the Canyons 3, Ventura 0--Freshman right-hander Michelle Ruffner threw a three-hitter in the Western State Conference game at Canyons.

Ruffner held Ventura (0-3 in WSC play) to three singles. Tressie Millender and Diana Franklin added doubles for Canyons (6-7, 2-1).

Moorpark 19, Pierce 0--Chris Singer, a freshman from Newbury Park, tripled twice in Moorpark’s 12-run third inning in the WSC game at Pierce.

It was the Lady Raiders’ 19th consecutive conference victory. De Dow (12-3) won her 13th consecutive conference decision over two seasons.

Chapman 1, Cal Lutheran 0--Sandra Olivas’ third-inning sacrifice fly drove in Kirsten Lewis with the game’s only run in a Pepsi Spring Classic tournament game at Greenacres Park in Bakersfield. In an earlier game, Mankato State (Minn.) defeated CLU, 5-4, scoring the winning run with two out in the seventh.
