Martin Survives Playoff to Win City Junior Girls’ Golf Title
Stephanie Martin defeated Heidi Voorhees on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff to win the Los Angeles City junior girls’ golf title at Griffith Park on Tuesday.
Martin, representing Saticoy Country Club in Camarillo, shot a 36-hole total of 157 (79-78) and parred the playoff hole. Voorhees, a junior at Notre Dame High, shot 79 after a 78 on Monday.
Emilee Klein, Voorhees’ teammate at Notre Dame, finished fourth with a 159. Klein shot a 77 in the first round but faded to an 82 Tuesday.
Gerald Wong of Eagle Rock won the boys’ title by eight strokes with a score of 139. John Schweizer of Westlake finished fifth at 150.
