Rolling Hills outfielder Greg Schwartz has driven in nine runs in the last three games to help the Titans seize first place in the Bay League with a 3-0 record. His two-run single was the team’s only hit Tuesday in a 2-1 victory over Leuzinger and standout pitcher Tyrone Scott.

Travis Tarchione of Loyola Marymount was 10 for 17 with three home runs in three games last week, raising his totals to .378, seven homers and 34 RBIs in 34 games.

Banning’s softball team entered this week with a 14-1 record and a .390 batting average. Laura Espinoza heads nine Pilots who are hitting more than .300 with a .489 average.

Who’s Not

Leuzinger, which a week ago was one of the South Bay’s hottest baseball teams, has fallen on hard times. The Olympians’ slumping offense has produced a total of four runs in consecutive losses to Inglewood, Narbonne and Rolling Hills since last Friday.

Cal State Dominguez Hills pitcher Dave Haggard fell to 0-5 despite two low-hit outings last week. The former North Torrance High star was hurt by his wildness. He walked eight in a 5-1 loss to Cal Poly Pomona and hit two batters in a 5-2 defeat by U.S. International University.

Bishop Montgomery committed a season-high six errors Saturday in a 5-4 loss at Santa Maria. It was the Knights’ fourth loss in five games.
