Vista 2, Poway 1--With the bases loaded in the eighth inning, Shannon Eck hit a single, scoring Kelly Schott with the winning run for Vista (9-2, 3-0). Rene Richardson was two for four for Vista. Schott (9-2) was the winner.

Metro League

Hilltop 7, Mar Vista 0-- Tisha Ashfield hit a home run in the top of the seventh with two runners on for Hilltop (11-4, 3-0). Ashfield was two for three with four RBIs. Martha Blanco (7-2) was the winner.

Baseball

Metro Conference games:

Southwest 6, Chula Vista 2--In the eighth, Tony Dellatorre and Victor Caracoza each hit two-run doubles to break a 2-2 tie. Southwest improved to 8-3, 2-0.

Mar Vista 15, Hilltop 4--Junior shortstop Jorge Garcia blasted two homers, scored three runs and knocked in four more for Mar Vista (5-8-1, 3-0). Jose Galaz went two for two, scored two and knocked in four, while Josh Leslie went two for three with two runs scored, two doubles and an RBI. Mick Martinez went five innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out four in picking up his second victory against no losses.

Sweetwater 2, Bonita Vista 0--Raul Sanchez was two for four with a double for visiting Sweetwater (6-8, 1-2). Sanchez scored in the first inning on a base hit by Isaac Bruce. Larry Meza (2-1) was the winner and had six strikeouts. Bonita Vista dropped to 8-9, 2-1.

Castle Park 2, Montgomery 1--Benji Gill had three hits and was the winning pitcher for Castle Park (17-2-1), while Chris Morris had the game-winning single in the sixth.

Avocado League:

RBV 13, Oceanside 1--Sophomore center fielder James Gore went two for fourw ith a home run and five RBIs, while George Hadden went three for four with two RBIs for RBV (1-2, 8-7). Robert McLeoud threw six innings and gave one unearned run, two hits, two walks and two strikeouts to pick up the victory. Oceanside falls to 0-3 and 8-7.

Carlsbad 12, Ramona 3--Scott Karl’s three-run homer in the second inning wiped out Ramona’s one-run lead and gave Carlsbad the momentum. The Lancers came back for two more runs in the third, then parlayed three Ramona errors in the fifth into six additional runs.

Escondido 6, San Pasqual 2--Tom Afenir hit a home run in the second inning with one runner on giving Escondido (11-4, 3-0) a boost. Afenir was two for three with two RBIs. San Pasqual is 11-4 and 2-1. San Marcos 2, El Camino 0--Toby Lehman (2-3) pitched a one-hitter, struck out 12, and walked seven for San Marcos (3-11, 2-1). Joe Balardeta was three for three and Gordon Sanchez was two for two for the Knights.

City Western League:

USDHS 6, Mission Bay 5--Chad Davidson and David Sanchez led off USDHS’s six-run second inning with singles, then Tom Pate hit a three-run homer, his second of the season. Jeff DesJardins doubled in two more and scored on a error. Gavin Millay allowed six hits and five runs through 5 1/3 innings. Gary Remiker came on to pick up the save. University (11-3, 3-1) and and Mission Bay (12-3, 3-1) are tied for first place.

City Central League:

St. Augustine 3, Lincoln 2--Mike Mossuto’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh drove in Larry Murasky from third and gave St. Augustine (7-7, 2-2) the victory. Lincoln fell to 3-9, 1-3.

Palomar League:

Fallbrook 7, San Dieguito 2 -- Mike Gainsborough walked three and struck out eight in picking up the victory for Fallbrook (11-5, 1-2). Erik Larson and Dirk Fisher hit home runs for Fallbrook. San Dieguito falls to 9-5-1, 0-2.

Vista 7, Poway 4--John Land had three RBIs to lead the Panthers over visiting Poway (7-7, 1-2). Vista improved to 11-3-1, 3-0. Reggie DeLeon (5-0) got the win.
